Surfside Beach, TX : Located approximately 60 miles south of Houston Texas, Surfside Beach is a community steeped in rich history, with miles of beautiful beaches. 

A lot of people love go to freeport for fishing or catch crabs.  It is more quite place better than Galveston.

~History~
Surfside Beach is considered the Cradle of Texas where some of the "Original 300 Settlers" first set foot on Texas soil.  Home to the famous Fort Velasco, Surfside is the location where the first battle prior to the war for Texas Independence was fought and where Santa Ana signed the Treaty of Velasco recognizing Texas as an Indepndent country.

Galveston, Texas : Galveston is one of Texas most popular tourist places to visit. Galveston is on an island that is 32 miles long on the upper coast of Texas on the Gulf of Mexico. San Antonio Missions : A chain of five missions established along the San Antonio River in the 18th century became the largest concentration of Catholic missions in North America. Built primarily to expand Spanish New World influence northward from Mexico, the missions also served to introduce native inhabitants into Spanish society. 

Four of the missions (San Jose, San Juan, Concepcion, and Espada) were originally founded in East Texas. As the East Texas missions succumbed to drought, malaria, and French incursions, however, they were relocated to San Antonio.

Ghost Town - Manor, Texas : This J.LORRAINE ghost town is located in Manor, TX. It is about 12 miles away from Austin. They hold weddings, party, rent barn, movie night, etc all the time. They serve beer, soda, hamburger, hot dog, and etc..

Sauer-Beckmann Farm : Johnson City is a city in Blanco County, Texas, United States. It was the hometown of President Lyndon Johnson. The Lyndon B. Johnson National Historical Park, operated by the National Park Service.

Old Feed Mill : The mill was originally built in 1880 as a steam powered grist mill & cotton gin by James Polk Johnson. A flour mill was added in 1901 using stones from a rock fence surrounding the Johnson Settlement.. George Crofts, an acknowledged genius of mechanical gadgets, purchased the mill in the early 1940s & converted the mill to produce agricultural feedand it operated until the 1980's. It still contains the innovative and unique equipment designed by Crofts.

Abandoned Austin State School : Built in 1933, originally called the Austin State School Farm Colony, which taught the mentally retarded to be self-sufficient. It closed in 1996, and has almost 60 buildings still on the property.
