Old Feed Mill - Johnson City, TX
The mill was originally built in 1880 as a steam powered grist mill & cotton gin by James Polk Johnson. A flour mill was added in 1901 using stones from a rock fence surrounding the Johnson Settlement.. George Crofts, an acknowledged genius of mechanical gadgets, purchased the mill in the early 1940s & converted the mill to produce agricultural feedand it operated until the 1980's. It still contains the innovative and unique equipment designed by Crofts.
